Understanding cough

A cough is a protective reflex that helps your body clear or respond to irritation in the airways.

Why does my cough keep coming back?

Your airways react each time they are irritated. Dry air, post-nasal drip, allergies and reflux can keep triggering the reflex, even after a cold has passed.

How can a cough affect my day?

A persistent cough can interrupt conversations, disturb your sleep and make your throat feel tired and sore. Long hours in air-conditioned offices or heated rooms can make a dry, tickly cough more noticeable.

How can saline mist help a dry, tickly cough?

The mesh turns sterile saline into a fine mist that adds moisture as you breathe. When dryness is part of the problem, this may help soothe the dry, tickly feeling in your throat.

What if my cough has another cause?

Asthma, infections and reflux need their own care, and your doctor can help identify the cause. Please see them if your cough lasts more than 3 weeks or comes with fever, wheezing, chest pain or blood.

Understanding mucus

Mucus helps trap dust and germs in the airways. When it becomes thick or sticky, it can feel harder to clear.

Why does mucus feel so thick?

Mucus is mostly water, so it can feel stickier when your airways are dry or irritated. Colds, allergies and dry indoor air can all make it feel harder to move.

How can mucus affect my day?

It can leave you constantly clearing your throat, coughing or feeling a heavy, stuck sensation. Many people notice it most in the morning, after mucus has built up overnight.

How can saline mist help?

Saline mist adds moisture to the air you breathe, which may help soothe dry, irritated airways. For everyday congestion, fluids and a saline nasal spray can also support your routine.

What if I have a lung condition?

Conditions such as bronchiectasis and cystic fibrosis need a treatment plan from your doctor. Please also see a doctor if mucus lasts more than 3 weeks or comes with wheezing, fever or blood.

Understanding sore throat

Most sore throats are caused by viral infections and improve within about a week. Dry air, allergies and reflux can also irritate the throat.

Why does my throat feel so scratchy?

Irritation and dryness can leave the delicate lining of your throat feeling raw. Heating, air conditioning, smoke and long periods of talking can all add to the discomfort.

Why is it often worse in the morning?

Dry bedroom air and breathing through your mouth overnight can dry out your throat. Post-nasal drip and reflux can also irritate it while you sleep, so you may wake up feeling sore.

How can saline mist help?

The fine mist adds moisture as you breathe, and some of it settles on your throat. This may help soothe a dry, scratchy feeling.

What if it's an infection?

Saline mist will not treat an infection. Fluids, lozenges and pharmacy pain relief can help you feel more comfortable, and a doctor should check a sore throat that lasts more than a week or comes with a high fever.

How the mesh works

Think of a spray bottle, but with a mist so fine you can breathe it in. It isn't steam, because the device never boils the liquid.

Why droplet size matters: larger droplets tend to settle in the mouth and throat, while smaller ones can travel deeper into the airways.

1. The liquid

Fill the cup with sterile saline or your prescribed nebulizer medicine. Sterile saline is purified salt water made specifically for this use.

2. The mesh

The cup sits against a thin plate full of tiny holes. Press the button, and the plate vibrates many thousands of times per second.

3. The mist

Each vibration pushes liquid through the holes, creating a cloud of tiny droplets that travel with your breath through the mask or mouthpiece.

Questions, answered

How does the nebulizer work?

A thin mesh plate vibrates rapidly and pushes liquid through tiny holes. This creates a fine mist that you breathe in through the mask or mouthpiece. The liquid is not boiled, so the mist is not steam.

What liquid can I use?

Use only sterile saline or a nebulizer medicine prescribed for you. Do not use tap water, distilled water, essential oils or homemade saline. Your pharmacist can help you choose a suitable product.

Will it help my cough, mucus or sore throat?

Saline mist adds moisture and may make a dry throat feel more comfortable for a short time. It does not treat the underlying cause, and evidence for everyday coughs and mucus is limited. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist whether it is suitable for you.

Can it replace my inhaler or medicine?

No. This device does not replace your inhaler, prescribed medicine or medical care. Continue following your treatment plan, and speak with your doctor before making any changes.

When will my order arrive?

Orders are processed within 1–3 business days. Estimated delivery is 3–5 business days to Australia and the USA. Delivery times to other countries may vary. You will receive a tracking number by email once your order ships.

What is your return policy?

You have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return. It must be unused and in its original packaging, with proof of purchase. If your item arrives faulty, damaged or incorrect, please contact us immediately at contactgildedgeneral@gmail.com. Read our full refund policy.

Get urgent help when you need it

Seek urgent medical attention for severe breathlessness, blue lips, difficulty swallowing saliva, or an inability to speak in full sentences. Do not rely on a home nebulizer in an emergency.
